Speaking strictly as a deadhead and not an audiophile, this sounds AMAZING!

That's as of about Row Jimmy - haven't gotten to any of the "big" set two songs yet ...

Get the CD!

The problem with the "matrix" sound is that by combining two different sources in a mixing environment creates phase distortion.

Audibly the recordings don't bloom, sound hollow in the midrange, a collapsed soundstage (non-3D) and a bit phasey in places, transients etc.

Give me a Healy Ultrasound live matrix from the board and that's a different story.

Thanks btw for sharing, recording aside, great show, best year!

I'm not an audiophile by any means and I love a lot of matrices but this is not a good one. Whoever made this didn't spend a lot of time making sure that the recordings stayed synced up and there is a ton of phasing as a result, very bad at times (check out WRS for an example).
You're much better off just listening to the straight Jerry Moore aud (or the bits that are on DP12).

You are correct. I was seduced by the very crispy BIODTL, but that mix does not last ... the China Cat jam sounds pretty great, too, but overall it's pretty messy

Ahh, the ambiguities of our written language!

We were talking about this recording, not the performance, and I meant that the recording overall is messy, but also tried to highlight that the China Cat jam is one of the better-sounding parts of it -

"the China Cat jam sounds pretty great, too, but overall [the sound is] pretty messy"

Sorry that was unclear, and I'm totally with you on this particular China Cat - "brilliant" is an understatement.
